APCC Blog Has Arrived!!

What's the APCC Blog?

A Blog is a short name for Web-log, or diary. We've set up the apccblog.com to help us get more interactive with each other -to post match results, social fixtures, etc, and generally use it to drive our 'club-feel' and communication. It's simpler than the emails that we currently send around and we can then keep an archive of what was discussed and structure them.

How Does it Work?

  • All the committee members and captains are CONTRIBUTORS - they write the articles (called POSTS) on an authoring system and then publish them onto the apccblog.
    • We can write quick match reports for view after the weekend
    • We can send out social information, etc
    • All POSTS can be categorised - so if you want to view the 2nd XI match reports or social events you can do so without having to search through the whole diary.
    • You don't have to log onto any system or email, etc - all you need is internet access and you can access appcblog.com anytime.

Add Comments to the Blog Yourself!

Under each POST on the Blog there is a Comments hyperlink where you can post a comment.

To add a comment you have to register - this prevents unwanted Spam - but it takes about a minute

  • Click on the Comments link - you will be asked to log in (you can only leave a comment when logged in).
  • A login screen will appear - either:
    • Enter your login destails and comment away, or
    • Click the Register link; you will be asked for your name and your email address. The system will send a password to your email address to verify it - then you can log in (when logged in you can change your password in you profile)
  • It all sounds a bit onerous - but it only takes a minute or so and it protects the site from unwanted Spam, so please take the time.

Why can't we just have the Website?

  • The website is more static with more 'official news' & information. You need to have specialist software to update it.
  • The apccblog is more dynamic and anyone can read it or comment on it without the need for any additional software - all you need is internet access. It means we can generate quicker cricket communication such as match reports etc. and thus generate a more interactive social side to the club - go on - give it a try!

And Finally - Mind Your Language!

The APCC website and apccblog are publically available on the internet, and thus are as equal ambassadors to our club as our human members. Our club supports playing and socialising in the 'Spirit of the Game'. Please do not post any slanderous, libelous, defamatory, harrassing, bullying, inappropriate words or undesirable comments or articles on the apccblog - especially as we are aiming to involve more family members and yound people; we'd like them to enjoy the apccblog too. Have fun and sledge away -  but please use your sensible judgement.

Please note that by registering with apccblog.com you are agreeing to observe these reasonable requests. The apccblog is moderated by the Club Chairman and Club Captain and undesirable comments may be edited or deleted or registered persons may be removed from the blog and the individual may be questioned by the committee.
